A BRAND NEW OPEN
WINE SCHOOL COMING UP
In the
last year or so,
everywhere I look, there's some sort of wine class or wine tasting going on.
These days, It seems that everyone and his brother is offering a wine
tasting, the most recent permutation of which is the ubiquitous wine
tasting-cum-singles soiree. Christ. One of my favorite quotes is from a book
by the Japanese novelist Junichiro Tanizaki, "Every worm to its taste;
some prefer to eat nettles." Not quite apropos to the business of wine
tasting but you get the idea. Much more imaginative, don't you think, than "chacun
a son gout"?
The last year has been
a period of
reflection.
I became wined-out and wine-weary, and I wanted to walk away from the
wine school business. But just as I thought that I was out, they pull me
back in... I have to admit that I love love love sharing what I know and
what wine I have, and nothing -- nothing -- gets me going more
than having someone derive pleasure from something as simple as a glass
of wine.
I'd hate to give
you the regular, uniform tutored tasting sort of wine event so we're
revamping the whole wine school program and will soon be offering you
classes and tastings and activities that will blow
your mind.
Check back soon
-- we will unveil the new Open Wine School program for
Fall 2008 any time now.
